Burger Yachts
Great Lakes craftsmanship, built one yacht at a time since the early 1900s.
The Burger name goes back to 1863, when Henry B. Burger founded a shipyard in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. The yacht-building side of the family followed, launching its first motor vessel in 1901 and turning out custom wooden motor yachts by the 1910s. In 1938 Burger built the first steel-hulled yacht in the country using electric arc welding, and it moved to welded aluminum in 1952. About 500 Burger yachts have been built, and the yard in Manitowoc is still building custom yachts today.
A Burger is a custom boat in the truest sense, so no two are alike. On an older Burger, the build year and the original owner's choices tell you more than a model number does. Condition, refit history and documentation matter most.
