A 65-foot Huckins Corinthian, cold-molded and pilothouse-style, kept by a full-time captain and cruised the full Down East loop.
Huckins Yachts
Fast, light and unmistakably Jacksonville: the Fairform Flyer and the yachts that followed it.
Huckins Yacht Corporation grew out of a family lumber business and was reincorporated in 1928 on the Ortega River in Jacksonville, Florida. That summer the first Fairform Flyer, a 42-foot express cruiser, was launched and made its maiden voyage from Fernandina, Florida, all the way to New York City. Its Quadraconic hull, built on a conic design method developed by Lindsay Lord, was strong enough that Huckins went on to build 18 of the Navy's 78-foot PT boats during World War II.
Huckins is still building custom yachts in Jacksonville today, run by the third generation of the family. That continuity is a real advantage for a buyer: the builder knows its own boats, and owners hold a rendezvous each year.
