A 1983 Burger 91 aluminum motor yacht, lengthened and refitted by Derecktor Shipyards to a Sparkman & Stephens design, with an Orsini-designed interior.
About this yacht
DiDay was launched in 1984 as a Burger 91 and has had the same owner since 1993. Soon after he bought her, she went to Derecktor Shipyards in Mamaroneck, New York, for a major refit drawn by Bill Langen of Sparkman & Stephens. The topsides were widened and about ten feet of length was added, which made room for garage storage, a night generator room, and an aft deck for dining and lounging. Orsini Design of New York oversaw a completely new interior, and a flybridge arch was added during the 1993 to 1995 work.
In 2001 she received MTU 12V 2000 diesels and twin 32 kW Kohler generators in place of her original GM engines. The listing shows about 6,000 hours on the MTUs, with the W-6 service completed. She is in Stuart, Florida.
Why a Burger like this
Burger Boat Company of Manitowoc, Wisconsin, has built yachts since the nineteenth century, and its aluminum motor yachts of the 1980s are known for their quality of build. A boat that has been refitted by respected designers and kept by one owner for over thirty years is a rare find.
