A 1970 Trumpy, one of the last yachts the yard built, comprehensively refitted in 2025 with a new bottom, new engines and a mahogany hull that is double-planked.
About this yacht
Absolute was commissioned by Bayard Sharp of the du Pont family and launched as Galpo, named for his mother. She later carried the names Broadview and then Absolute, and she is now with her sixth owner. Her listing calls her one of the last Trumpy yachts built, the eighth from the last.
A comprehensive refit finished in 2025 gave her a new bottom, keel, frames and floors, along with new Volvo Penta D8 diesels of 550 hp each, new ZF gears, new fuel tanks, Soundown underwater exhaust, new Northern Lights generators from 2023 and a Halon fire suppression system. The interior keeps its teak-and-holly floors and walnut salon, with a full-beam galley and salon, an owner's cabin and a guest cabin. She is in Chesapeake, Virginia.
Why a Trumpy like this
Trumpy of Annapolis built some of the most admired wooden yachts in America, and its boats are still the standard for classic yacht lines. A Trumpy from the final years of the yard, rebuilt to this degree, is a chance to own one that is ready to use.
