## About this yacht

Wiletie is a 1927 staysail schooner designed by Edson B. Schock and built in Southern California, in the era when schooners like her dominated West Coast cruising and racing. She is planked in Douglas fir over oak frames, bronze fastened, with teak decks and a full keel. She is a traditional, blue-water boat, and her listing describes her as a piece of West Coast yachting history.

A major restoration in 2006 gave her new standing rigging, new decks and substrates, replacement planking over much of the hull, refinished spars and fiberglass sheathing on the cabin top. The topsides were painted in 2020 and the interior was refinished in 2022. Her listing describes the structure and machinery as excellent. She carries a full battened main, a storm jib, several genoas and a furling genoa, with recent sails by Pineapple, and a diesel auxiliary of about 55 hp that was rebuilt and installed in 2006 (about 400 hours). Below she has two cabins, a head and a galley with a three-burner stove and oven. She is in Richmond, California.

## Why a classic like this

Boats from the 1920s are few, and a staysail schooner of this age that has been rebuilt rather than neglected is rarer still. She is a boat for a buyer who wants a classic under sail, and who values her history and the care she has had.
